Complete Dental Implants
Struggling with one or more missing teeth? Or maybe you’re tired of dealing with poorly fitting dentures? When you lose a tooth, there are generally three options available for filling the missing space:
A removable denture — Will sit on the gum and needs to be taken out every night before bed. Some patients have trouble tolerating the plastic material of the denture or the pressure that it places on the gums.
A dental bridge — Requires that the teeth next to the space be shaved down in order to hold either end of the “bridge” that spans across the missing tooth space. Bridges are permanently cemented. Cleaning under a bridge can be tricky, but with time and patience it will become part of your daily brushing routine.
A dental implant — Most patients agree that it’s the option that best imitates a healthy, natural tooth. Single dental implants are permanently cemented and can be brushed and flossed like your regular teeth.
Chun Family Dentistry provides a full suite of dental implant services. Our doctors will be happy help you decide if dental implants are right for you.
What Is a Dental Implant?
A dental implant is essentially a small, biocompatible screw that acts as an artificial tooth root. It can be placed in either the upper or lower jaw, and it fuses with the bone to become a stable foundation for the restoration on top.
At our dental practice, we are trained to provide both the placement and restoration phases of implant dentistry.
Am I a Candidate for Dental Implants?
Dental implants are a great option for patients who have missing or severely damaged teeth due to decay, mouth trauma, or natural wear. That being said, dental implants work best for people with good oral health. If you have gum disease, diabetes, or immune deficiencies, or if you smoke, the procedure can be more complicated.
The best way for us to determine whether you are a candidate for dental implants is to bring you in for a full evaluation. During this evaluation, we’ll go over your medical and patient history as well as your dental needs. Whether or not you are deemed a candidate, we’re here to help you find the best tooth replacement option for you.
